READ LEAD
This is a summer and after-school reading enrichment program providing opportunities for under-served children ages 3 through 13 to receive a free, innovative education program that promotes a love of reading, builds confidence and self-esteem, encourages parental involvement, and diminishes summer learning loss. The Read Lead program run from late June through early August each summer in-person at sites throughout Los Angeles, as well as virtually since 2021. Learn More >
LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
College-age young people and recent college graduates play a key role in the CDF Freedom Schools program as site coordinators and servant leader interns. This is an empowering opportunity to be a powerful role model for children in your community. In order to foster environments that support children and encourages them to excel, we provide a week-long national training and leadership institute to all interns and coordinators.
READ ALOUD!
Read Aloud! is part of our summer Read Lead program where guests from the community are invited into the classroom to read their favorite books to our scholars. The program instills a love of reading and exposes students to new people and new stories. Moreover, it allows you, our guest reader, the opportunity to see what the Read Lead program is all about.
